Can we ban him from buying on the forum? Even after spending hours and showing him I didn't get a refund he is still trying to pursue it on Paypal.

Itís 40 x 3 tickets.

My point is - shouldnít the travel bank reflect a new balance? How can it be that the travel banks balance isnít available to the seller? Itís more about fairness than anything else.

Whoa! That's pretty drastic of him. However, he did post a week ago that he wasn't getting a response from you.
Obviously there is more going on here...

Either way, I'm not sure what is going on here from either side. He bought a gift card. He got a refund. Whether a partial refund for what happened or a partial refund because his flight got cancelled for weather and he drove, it gets refunded back to the GC. That isn't the seller's issue to refund.
Full stop.
That means that the buyer has a GC balance for the future to use. It's one of the drawbacks of buying a GC to use.
What the buyer is entitled to is access to the GC to use. Is that being given? It's the buyer's issue to deal with United and trying to find it.

For those that need an example: If I buy a GC for a restaurant, and I order over the phone for delivery, they run the GC and send the order. When they deliver the food, I realize they messed up the order. I call and they say they'll refund the GC. It isn't the seller's issue at all. It's my issue to find the refund and use it in the future. It doesn't matter if the seller called in the payment with the GC or I did. Only thing seller "owes me" is access to the GC.

1. That's exactly right.  I waited 2-3 months. Seller stopped responding.  I filed a claim.

2. I completely agree with this analogy - in this case, the $120 credit went to the gift bank.  I should be able to use that credit.  I don't know why you can't log into it to see your balance anymore.  Obviously you could before because you were selling it, and knew what amount you were selling.  You also mentioned something about a refund that you saw on it, but for the incorrect amount.

3. I have all the emails to back my position, and if you don't agree, that is fine. I would rather have a neutral arbitration anyways.  Only reason I had to go to paypal is because you weren't responding.

Thanks all for chiming in, whether you agreed with me or him.
