I was charged after 1am ny time and got some email confirmations and the pending charge says sat nov 24

I wanted to use an amex gc I got from a rebate. Instead I used my chase freedom. I got 23 ppd for the $13 purchase. I also felt it wouldnt be nice to embarrass/catch him in his twisting of the truth. (mods, maybe we should move this to the ethics thread )

I gave to a tzedaka online who said they will process the charge motzaei Shabbos.n the charge is already pending on my cc.  I contacted them and they said the charge won't really go through till they process it.he said on his end it says Authorizd/Pending Capture. Make sense

I got 10/14.  The 4 I did not get were for this tzedakah which "captured" it on wed.  Should I SM or be patient?  One of the cards is a citi so I think I lost my chance on that one entirely

@AsherO - i SM'd Asap bec i didnt want to come up behind all the people that will SM for that reason and mess it up .

@Ya'alili - to do what AsherO said for that reason can be talked about in ethical thread, but i have a valid issue here, i am not guaranteed by that restaurant guy to get it back especially after what happened last night (read above my story - i emailed him back and forth 36 times!!) and i want to make sure ill get it, so i SM'd them. Now if they give me an extra $25 thats already a glitch which im not really gonna return theyre money .
So in essence this has no place to what AsherO said in ethical thread because someone that spent it on the 24th has no issue to complain about and someone that got it on 25th has what to say. So in my eyes its 100% ethical

in general ur right, but if u think about it, in this case any one SM'ing has a valid point to bring up even if they want to double dip. theres the main part to the problem that they want to make sure theyre getting their money and on the side they may get that double dip bonus, but it cant be thats the main reason theyre SM'ing.
im not sure if im explaining this correctly. think about it for a moment

You give $25 via your Amex card to a tzedaka.
You take $25 cash out of your maaser envelope to pay the Amex bill.
Amex gives you a $25 gift.

Send an SM complaining that the credit didn't post yet, hopefully the rep will be nice enough to post it manually and then see if it will still post automatically?

Why wouldn't it work?
You give $25 via your Amex card to a tzedaka.
You take $25 cash out of your maaser envelope to pay the Amex bill.
Amex gives you a $25 gift.

Also don't forget the fact that you are, indeed, giving up the opportunity to use these "free purchases" and instead giving it to tzedaka...

this has been discussed here in the passed. keep in mind the halacha doesnt always work with what you think is logic. if you do find someone that tells you its ok respectfully ask him  how he knows. making the same cheshbon you made is no proof
