Just wondering why are there businesses listed and registered on the SBS if they are not open on Saturday? and AMEX specifically says only in store trans. will be qualified?

Amex has no idea whether they're open on Saturday. They only know that they meet Amex's "small business" qualifications. Case in point - It seems like half of the "small businesses" listed on Amex's map are doctor's offices.

I just read the offer terms at Amex Promo website.  One of the terms says:
4. Qualifying small business locations appear on the Small Business Saturday® Map, available beginning on November 21, 2013 at ShopSmall.com.

I've read in the past, even if it doesn't appear in the map, the transaction at any small business qualifies; however, it doesn't seem to be true any more.  Would anyone want to weigh on this?  TIA

Doesn't need to be on the map. Just needs to be a small business.

I spotted a Vons on the map in LA area. Mind you Vons has at leasat 20 locations in SoCal and I believe are owned by Safeway. Not such a "small" business.
