I did say 'officially', I haven't provided SSNs for my AUs as well.

I got a letter recently asking for the ss# for my AU's. haven't sent anything in and the cards still work

IIRC someone got FR'ed last year after opening many AU cards and David seems to have had such an issue.

Adding an AU also does something to their trust with you as the primary. I used to constantly test for approval of charges between 10.5k and 12k without rejection on a 6k line for the last 15 months until I added my sister with her social onto my account. Now they won't even allow $500 over the credit line to be approved on the test. She has had a card with them for 4 years and no late payments. Just a very low (revolving) credit line of $800 and of which they refused her a 2k line increase as well. So I think there is some hidden scoring system that they judge you by once you add that AU. My history has always been immaculate with them and never revolved. My account was opened 26 months ago.

As far as opening cards without providing SSN, I have never had to provide. Well, technically, they asked, and I just said I didn't have it at the time, and I'd give it later. So far >10 cards later, no problems. (All were charge cards.)

You guys gonna actually open up more AUs?

just acouple of comments;
fr'd for au
on citi or other non direct amex it worked but not for au
when they extended it it worked on amex cards not citi amex ect...
they were very good about doing a manual credit if for whatever reason it didnt work
(all this is ime from last year)

Anyone know of a worthwhile small business in Brooklyn that wouldn't mind swiping some 20 cards and give a credit? Better yet if it can be done over the phone (or online, if it would still qualify for the promo).

IIRC I read here somewhere that it was until the end of the year last year. If they don't extend it is it a weekend thing or an exact 24 hour thing.
