Maybe they would come up that a "charity" is not a "business"? They would definitely save themselves hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim called AmEx and spoke to them, detailing exactly who they are and what they plan on doing, and was told that it is fine. I can't speak for other organizations, but I can't imagine why they would allow one charitable donation and not another.

eichlers on coney
sefarim store on m and 18 or 19
all ur restuants (at least many of them )
pizza and icecream shops (i'm not about to make a list of every pizza shop in bklyn)
and i hear ZBerman on coney is opening this year
there are probably many others that i dont know about

Think about how many people will now run to apply for amex cards so they don't lose out next year. Besides for all the merchants who will now feel compelled to start accepting amex. IMHO thats the point of this promo, so that people will call local businesses and ask "do you take amex?"

This looks great for them "promoting small business".
I got a kick leafing through the BP (local Lakewood ad weekly) seeing ads fromstores who would give you the dirtiest look when paying with Amex bending  over backwards to cash in on this promo.
