Last year I donated and had to call in to manually get the credits.
The lady rep was "upset" at me and said she would only do it this last time.
Honestly, this year I am a bit reluctant about charity although I have a family member who runs a religious organization and gives me access to his CC processing page and I get to charge all my card in the comfort of my own home instead of having to fill out forms/go to a store with all my cards etc..

how quickly did registration fill up last year? I cant remember if there was a limited # or it unlimited

There was an official limit of 300,000 IIRC. They closed registration sometime on that Shabbos (some people registered Friday but by the time Shabbos was over in NY registration was closed)

I also just got an email from a school asking me for my CC info so that they could register me and bill me. It also included language similar to the previous organization posted that mentions that two people with the same card number can be used twice.

I emailed the school trying to explain what an authorized user is (different card number) and that the T&C specifically exclude educational institutions and charities. They told me that "this is what AMEX sent them." They couldn't verify though from AMEX that they will be included.

I'm thinking that some middleman is involved somehow (would explain the similar strange / incorrect language of both places) and not enforcing the T&C.

Anybody have any updates on charities?

I'll try to be clearer:

Earlier in the thread, somebody posted about a tzedakah organization looking for people to sign up with their AMEX cards and the organization would register them and bill them. It had some funny language about cards with the same number.

I got an email from a different institution, using the same funny language about qualifying twice if you have a card with the same number as somebody else. When I asked the institution about this not complying with the T&C, they told me that "this is the info they received from AMEX."

I'm speculating that it wasn't AMEX that sent this info to either place but rather some middleman.

Anybody have any information on whether or not charities and / or educational institutions will be excluded?

Officially charities are excluded. That doesn't mean they might not be able to "slip between the cracks".
I posted earlier in this thread how last year I got an Amex rep over the phone to post the credits manually although the purchases were done to a charity. She gave me flak about it but, ultimately, reluctantly obliged.

Not sure if I'm doing charities this year based on that experience..
