Does anyone have experience using Amex purchase protection to cover the restocking fee? If so, what's the process? Do we contact Amex before or after making the return? Is there any specific form to fill out?

I think you mean return protection. I think you need to contact Elevtd first to tell them you want to return. If they wont accept the return, or charge a restocking fee, go back to Amex and they will help from there.
