Freedompop being discontinued
« on: July 21, 2019, 03:31:37 AM »
https://ting.com/mobile/freedompop

So anybody here who uses the free Freedompop service basically for Waze and email, are you aware of the change? did anybody study the new company Ting's rates? Any thoughts?

They say my account already has migrated to Ting, but still I have service without yet choosing a plan at Ting, it just changed from 4G to 3G.

I use unreal mobile which is also owned by freedompop. I don't know exactly when they plan on stopping service. Tomorrow (today) is my billing date. I hope they don't renew it.

And I don't think they can automatically change the service without you agreeing to the new terms of service.

I don't plan on changing to ting. Their rates are highway robbery.

Fr what I understand is that the old plan will still exist for that same price, though they SUGGEST you upgrade to unlimited talk and text cuz the new provider is so cheap...

The weird part here is that when logging into Freedompop as a guest, the free plan is still offered, while on my account I'm getting a red lettered pop-up "This account no longer works with FreedomPop. Ting has an exclusive deal to save your number. More info in your email or ting.com/freedompop".

Anyone else experienced the same?

A few months ago I got a redpocket plan off ebay, 500MB a month (I think), for $60/yr.

Yup it's the one here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Mo-Red-Pocket-Prepaid-Wireless-Phone-Plan-Kit-100-Talk-100-Text-500MB/133058476404?var=432360206416&hash=item1efae73974:m:mSyleaRtzx9Ed9lQVJGNpnA

Best option to replace Freedompop should it be eliminated.

Yes. Or it was $3.99

It's this. I got charged too a few weeks ago I called up the credit card and blocked future charges. I didn't remember my account information to login to freedompop

I just got charged again... This time was with the replacement credit card with a new number. I have no idea which email I used the card with but it doesn't make sense that I keep on getting charged on new credit card numbers.

No. It's a direct payment to freedompop.

Processors offer a service to companies that do subscription billing, where the card automatically updates to the new card number or new expiration.
