Dry swallow, it's not that hard. Unless that considered Saliva which is prohibited to swallow purposely.

I've never dry-swallowed any medication except those little red sudafed buttons.
Don't think I'd try a tylenol like that though.

I have dry swallowed real large pills, and believe me it's often easier than with liquid; liquid sometimes pushes it down even if it's not in the right position (for long pills), dry swallowing would not do that.

Taking Tylenol on Shabbos or Yom Tov might be a problem, even if it isn't a fast. So maybe Tisha b'av would have a different din (since you don''t have the gzeira of grinding herbs).

Definitely one of the stranger halachos of shabbos.

The reason for the medication ban is grinding. Something that with modern medicine is not even a ch'shash anymore.
Better to have a debilitating headache for a 3 day yom tov than that?

I heard that really there is no real issur - cuz its not Derech Achila... But still better not to

Great point, I don't know how I missed that. However Rabbi Farkash of Yirushulayim says that if the pain reaches a point that it would make you go to bed you are permitted to take medication.

I don't know if that applies to Yu"k though, even though it was Shabbos, since the Heter is based on "Mitzvah Liango Bachilah Ushtiya" and the ache will not let you do so --which obviously doesn't apply for Yu"k.

However my gut feeling is that if the choice is a splitting headache or Davening like a mentch, any ruv will give you the Heter.

That is the reason not to take on shabbos (or yom tov) but there is still reasoning not to take - more like sometihing to do with eating... as I said before - a rav said its not even clear what wrong but not to

But you use a blech on your stovtop, no?

True, but a stovertop is something that is normal to change the temperature on.
When's the last time you ground up your tylenol?

I've heard of people breaking/cutting pills, I don't know if that counts by your standards.

Rav Moshe Feinstein has a teshuva about taking tylenol (w/o water) and I think he concludes that on YK one should not do it.

i know people who have trouble swallowing pills so they grind them up or break open the capsules
