Interior Design/Decoration Master Thread

So I figured let's create a master thread to discuss this.

I have a small guest room in basement (9.5' x 11.5') with a really low ceiling ~7'

I'm trying to make it looks as spacious as possible, need help deciding on:

• Flooring material / color
• Room Paint color(s)
• Furniture and bedding
• Lighting
• Decor overall

I do not call 7 foot ceiling low; you should do, if your ceiling is all one level, either a Center light with or spotlights or without spotlights; if the ceiling isn't one level do only spots. You should definitely put one sconce for each bed and switches by the beds.

Spot lights would be the most elegant, by putting any fixture in the center of the room it's going to hang very low.
  Unless he puts one of those LED cased flat fixtures, but then again if you wants to make the room look nice probably stick with spotlights.
   I was such a small room definitely stick to light colors.

I'm looking for an interior designer to help me lay out potlights in an oddly shaped room. Should be doable by looking at a floorplan and pictures so it can be someone located anywhere, but I'd like to get it right so I'm looking for someone who knowns what they're doing.

Any suggestions?
