Is there anyway to book a rental using my points for someone else? Maybe by using a code for free additional driver?

Does anyone have recent experience renting from Avis in Mexico (specifically the Cancun airport location)? I would like to decline all of the Avis coverage, and use my Chase Sapphire Reserve for coverage instead, but the terms and conditions are confusing, poorly written, and contradictory.

For example the name of the section is “Optional Coverages” but they then go on to say that PDW is mandatory.

They do acknowledge that some credit cards offer car rental insurance, but they basically seem to indicate that it is going to be YMMV...and I need to negotiate this with the Avis employees upon arrival (which is far from ideal).

I've included a screenshot of the terms below. All of the colored font, highlighting, underlining, Etc is mine.

Circling back to this thread to share my recent experience.

I made my reservation through Priceline with Hertz (via Autoslash) since they ended up being cheaper than Avis. Upon arrival at the Hertz counter in Cancun Airport the agent confirmed that my reservation already included liability insurance. He did explain that there was an option to purchase supplemental liability insurance which would significantly increase the amount of coverage that I had. The difference in rate was quite substantial though, it would have increased the cost of the 5-day rental from around $95 to $235. I declined.

As for the Collision coverage (CDW/LDW etc.), The agent had no problems with me using my CSR for coverage and he did not ask to see any sort of proof of coverage (i.e. Chase benefits booklet etc.)

The return facility was a bit of a zoo but they honored the "Hertz Valet" benefit due to my President’s Circle status - "Take advantage of our terminal drive-back service at participating locations up to four times a year as a President’s Circle member."

I'm looking to book a 12 Passenger Van using Avis from 6/24 SAN to 7/2 LAX ; I am currently using the amazon partner offer to book, is that the cheapest rate available or is there  other ways to book that's cheaper?

Has anyone booked the 12 Passenger Van before?  Is there alot of room for luggage ?  Thank you!

Normally there should be plenty of room; however a customer of mine arrived to a Hertz rental in EWR this week, and received a 12PAX with not a single inch of bag space.  So it might be better to book a 15 passenger to be sure of having where to put your luggage.

I found this code "Use BCD code D726100 and AWD code MUWZ110. Offer ends 3/29/23." from here: https://www.mousesavers.com/avis-rental-car-discounts/

I didn't know that avis and budget are related but either way there's no BCD field on avis so I used D726100 as the AWD and used MUWA010 as the coupon code which I found here: https://www.avis.com/en/offers/us-offers/coupon-codes

It gave me the cheapest rate for a mini van that I could find (and I looked around, a lot) anywhere.

Is it going to give me trouble at the end of the day? I was able to reserve it and got a conf number.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Newbie renting from Avis/in the US
I have Presidents circle (matched from europcar)
Renting from JFK
I need a car that can seat two adults and three kids (all in carseats <3) + luggage (3/4 suitcases+hand luggage+a buggy(duoble stroller)
What class should I reserve? Will a reservation for a full size car (Camry) be sufficient to get upgraded to a minivan or do i need to reserve a higher class
Thanks

If you must have a minivan book a minivan don't rely on a possible upgrade.

Just sent Avis a screenshot of my Hertz PC and the gave me Preferred Plus. Is that the same tier as Hertz 5 star/National Executive?
Just received an email inviting me to Presidents club. I haven’t rented since the above post so I guess I lucked out.
From experience, how would you rate Presidents club vs National EE and Hertz PC?

Any tips for getting a violation handling fee reduced/waived?
I didn't know that I received a ticket so I didn't pre-emptively pay it, and Avis' handling fee is as much as the ticket itself...

To answer my own question: I reached out to their violation team and they agreed to lower it by 50%.

If I book to return to a non-airport location and then return to an airport location how do they price it out? Asking because an AWD number with same branch return includes mileage but with airport it excludes.
And to further clarify, I want to pick up from as near to EWR as possible but I'm returning on a Sunday so most branches are closed.

Many branches allow dropping the car off, even when closed.

In my experience, if one side is an airport/train station, you will pay the full tax.

I returned a vehicle last week and was charged a 5% surcharge of $55.73. I reached out to customer service and was told that "this charge is the taxes of your rental than do not generate additional taxes" (no clue what they're trying to say). I responded that the invoice already includes "TAX 9.250%", so how can the surcharge be taxes? The response was that "According to our records the fee is applied by the state´s government, non refundable". Does this sound right? Can they double tax?
