If you want to buy on a budget get the wyze, or wyze pan if you need that functionality.
If you want to go a bit higher end you can buy the nest.

I have both indoor and outdoor and I'm really happy with it.

You can disable motion detection and/or disable the camera for what it's worth.
How can you disable the camera? Afaik you can only disable event recordings

There's an on/off button on main page in app.

ETA: can be set to turn on/off automatically as well through rules.

I have had the amazon cloud cam for about 2 years, and it works great.

- You can schedule it on/off easily for shabbos
- It has a feature that it automatically shuts off if your phone is in the house
- I have the basic cloud cam storage feature - $70/year for 7 days storage on up to 3 cameras.
- You can view live and it can record as well.

Yes it's fine. On of mine fell down and the sound broke.
It records "events" - a few seconds when it is triggered by movement or sounds. Unless you use an SD card for continuous.

So far the wyze cameras are ok. I have 3 for now, with an SD card in all.

I have 2 points of criticism currently: 1) It doesn't indicate where events happened in playback mode  :-\. You literally have to sit there and move the slider minute by minute or just watch it for an unknown amount of time until you get to what you are looking for.

Upon googling I see this is a very common problem with lots of people looking for a solution: https://forums.wyzecam.com/t/mark-events-in-playback/6742

Yes, based on the events timeline I have an idea of the time frame but it's still very frustrating to be shooting in the dark.

2) Why oh why is there no way to view the play back or even live stream on a pc?? I want to be able to see all the cams in real time on a monitor not just a phone. I googled and found the app tinycam pro can help but that is limited to just 2 cams at a time.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I've been using various different cheap IP cams with limited success for what we needed.

Finally went with a more traditional baby monitor. You literally can't compare the quality of the product - both sound and image and the transmission speed. Can leave on all night etc

(Need to be able to view LED readings on a medical device for eg. and this cam is the only one that seems to be able to do it..).

Got this and highly recommend.

Been using nest cams for over a year and very happy with them. Rarely ever goes offline, app is great and easy to use.
