Looking for a nany cam
« on: August 05, 2019, 08:59:14 PM »
I'm looking for a classic nanny cam, I need something that can record motion and also view in real time.

I have ip cameras but the ones I have don't record, they are only live view.

Anyone have any personal experience with something that can record and offer live view? If it can be "hidden" that would be a plus but it's not a deal breaker.

Thanks!
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Hey, I really like the brand ezviz. They make excellent cameras and their app is also great. I have two cameras from them, plus I bought an outdoor camera for my in laws. You can set up motion recording, view a live feed, and save recordings easily using the app. you can also see all your cameras at once (should you get more than one). I worked in surveillance and from what I know, ezviz is the easiest to use and set up.

Some good to know specs on the cameras I have:
1080p at 30 fps
IR LEDs to see at night (in complete darkness)
2-way audio so you can listen and speak to people nearby
motion detection (one of mine has pan/tilt and can actually track motion and follow the subject)
Wi-Fi connectivity

Happy to help more if you have questions!

Yes it's fine. On of mine fell down and the sound broke.
It records "events" - a few seconds when it is triggered by movement or sounds. Unless you use an SD card for continuous.

Is the pan cam worth the extra few dollars?

My brother has a "smoke detector", which is cool. Its hooked up to the rest of the security camera system of regular camera's. Don't have any info about it though.
I'm not who you think I am.

You can disable motion detection and/or disable the camera for what it's worth.

If you want to buy on a budget get the wyze, or wyze pan if you need that functionality.
If you want to go a bit higher end you can buy the nest.

I have both indoor and outdoor and I'm really happy with it.

There's an on/off button on main page in app.

ETA: can be set to turn on/off automatically as well through rules.

I have had the amazon cloud cam for about 2 years, and it works great.

- You can schedule it on/off easily for shabbos
- It has a feature that it automatically shuts off if your phone is in the house
- I have the basic cloud cam storage feature - $70/year for 7 days storage on up to 3 cameras.
- You can view live and it can record as well.

So far the wyze cameras are ok. I have 3 for now, with an SD card in all.

I have 2 points of criticism currently: 1) It doesn't indicate where events happened in playback mode  :-\. You literally have to sit there and move the slider minute by minute or just watch it for an unknown amount of time until you get to what you are looking for.

Upon googling I see this is a very common problem with lots of people looking for a solution: https://forums.wyzecam.com/t/mark-events-in-playback/6742

Yes, based on the events timeline I have an idea of the time frame but it's still very frustrating to be shooting in the dark.

2) Why oh why is there no way to view the play back or even live stream on a pc?? I want to be able to see all the cams in real time on a monitor not just a phone. I googled and found the app tinycam pro can help but that is limited to just 2 cams at a time.
