crediting virgin flights to delta - is it worth it?

I have booked a r/t K flight on virgin airlines from ewr to tel aviv and can credit the flight to Delta instead of to Virgin.  According to Dan I'll get 17,052 redeemable miles, 17,052 MQMs, and 3,410 MQDs if credited to Delta! Alternatively it will earn 11,368 miles if credited to Virgin Atlantic, Singapore, or ANA.

Is it worth doing so? 

Will I be closer to gaining status on delta if I do? 

Or closer on Virgin.
