I would vote on AA pulling out of all Intl travel and just doing codeshares

Not unless AA resolved their TWA TLV issues, which I doubt would have happened without people going crazy about it.

I'm not sure why he thinks its not an issue and Dan thinks it is. Lucky @ OMAAT seems to trust Jon hunches, but he (Jon) doesn't think this announcement is about TLV.

Whether this announcement includes TLV or not, Jon said recently that he thinks TLV is looking very likely to happen.

Why do none of the US carriers fly to Istanbul? (I saw it mentioned as an option so I am bringing it up)

He's been saying that for years. Wake me up when announced.

Low nonstop traffic and low yield on a long route with dominant hub carrier.

It is not much further then Athens (if not a little closer) Is there more traffic to Athens then Istanbul?

A3 doesn't fly to the US AFAIK. TK reaches more destinations than any other airline IINM, has government support, and has quite a few nonstops between IST and North America, in addition to perceived instability/danger.

I think we might be more likely to see a US airline initiating a route to Moscow or Kiev than to Istanbul.

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
