It is not much further then Athens (if not a little closer) Is there more traffic to Athens then Istanbul?
Last I checked US airlines don't fly to ATH year-round.

I would vote on AA pulling out of all Intl travel and just doing codeshares
They'd be more likely to pull out of all domestic travel

TLV getting less likely IMO now that there appears to oversupply in the market, causing unusually low fares in all cabins as well as award availability on all 4 carriers.

Jon has one goal in life....to begin selling / trading / bartering systemwide upgrades for cash or his own benefit, just like he used to for years before American Airlines slapped him silly.

Why Dallas over Chicago or Philly? There are already a number of Non-stop flights from the West Coast so people wont connect through Dallas (out of the way)...Not much of a jewish community in Dallas either.

my guess is the Dallas is their only growing hub with no direct competition as opposed to Chicago where by the time they start the flight they will have elal as competition, while they obviously couldn't make Philly work last time around so they would rather try from somewhere new (and probably get the grant for a new route for which Philly might not have been eligible)

Looks like they expect good support here with Dallas having a large tech community like SFO flights for United that have been very successful with corporate travelers. This is less of a direct competition to the routes run by all the others.
