Please tell me you fixed the shut off while you were at it.

Would have, if that was anywhere close to my ability level.

Do I have to come over and show you how?  :)

I can stock some, but you'll have to make it yourself - I'm too busy listening to Ben Shapiro.

Wait, which thread is this?

I guess that means you didn't bleed them either?

Just changed the cabin air filter and engine air filter on my car. It was really easy, and the effort-to-cost-savings ratio was excellent - cost for having a mechanic replace the 2 together: ~$130. Cost for me to do it myself: ~$20 and 10 minutes.

I think you need a new mechanic.

Why, how much does your mechanic charge for each of those?

Repairpal.com lists cabin air filter at $69-$100, and engine air filter for $92-116.

I’ve been saying this for years.... Most mechanics charge like crazy (around your estimate.... maybe a little lower) while the parts are actually very cheap and its easy to DIY.

Most people don't know the better and just let the mechanic do it. Pretty much a scam.

I'm very not-handy, so a lot of things that might be "easy," would leave me without a working car (or house, as the case may be). This however, truly was easy. Like, anyone can do this.

A few years back I bought a timer for my dining room light. When installing I noticed that the instructions were telling me to connect different color wires that I did not have. After a few hours of frustration and a ton of trips down to the basement to turn on and off the fuse box I finally got it to work. Only problem is my dining room switch now controls the electricity to my living room, outside light and the outlets in my dining and living room.

The previous owner of my house must have done the same thing!--It wasn't you.

Some cars can be a pain.

I have a Honda CR-V. My neighbor has a Kia minivan, and he said for the engine air filter he doesn't even need to unscrew anything, it just has clips you can remove.

Maybe other cars are worse, though, I don't have any other experience.

The clips in the back are hard to get to sometimes and I have seen them not fastened correctly also.

How many sets of wires did you connect to the timer?
Sounds like it was a junction box for those areas, and instead of leaving them setup as a jumper, you took the jumper wire and connected it the same way you connected the black (hot) wire going to the light fixture.

Thanks, I just ordered a filter off Amazon for $10 and replaced it myself. Was literally a couple of clips and the mass sensor plug.
