+1 I'd definitely go for the BGR over PWM. The airport there is really small and the rental car return is a short walk up to the gates. You'd have to build in more buffer time for traffic heading into Portland (which we encountered, though that was on a busy August sunday, not a Thursday in September. The shul in BGR calls their shachris for 6:45 on weekday mornings (but call them before hand to see whether anything different is being done for Chol Hamoed), but they frequently don't get a minyan.
Yeah, I doubt the traffic at 3pm on a autumn Thursday will compare to an August Sunday. Either way I switched the flight. I guess I'll probably never get to fly out of a jetport (PWM)
.
6:45a doesn't bother me, though I'll call again closer to going. When I called a few weeks ago the person who answered didn't know. I usually daven at 5:45a. I'm hoping that on Chol HaMoed they'll get a minyan, since it's Yom Tov. At least maybe they'll have a succah I could use.
So it looks settled then. I'll fly in and out of BGR, and spend both days in Acadia. Assuming there's no scheduled minyan, is sunrise on Cadillac Mountain a thing? SF seemed to go for it but missed out due to the clouds. Is it something that people specifically go early for?
