I wouldn't, unless it's a long trip.  In NH you'd probably be thinking about Franconia, which is a good several hours drive. If you're doing that already, why not go to like Katadin.

There is a great brewery and bar called liquid riot right in the old port. Old port great to walk around for a few hours, with narrow cobblestone streets and alleys.

Hi @Something Fishy,

I am going IY"H next week to Acadia NP for about 5 hours. Driving from Portland.

What would you recommend - should I drive to Schoodic Peninsula or Otter Cliff?

Why not both? Otter Cliff/Cove/Point is one of the most beautiful areas smack in the middle of the park. Cannot be missed.

Schoodic is amazing too, but it's an hour and a half or so away. If you have the time, absolutely go for it.

Thank you! I think in a short time of 5 hours there is definitely no time for both. I guess will do Otter.

Why drive all the way out there for 5 hours? It's a significant detour from the mainland...

I must have missed the 5 hours bit in your original post.

I agree, the massive schlep from Portland is not worth 5 hours in the park. Save Acadia for when you have at least 2 days, preferably 3 or 4.

Is there any kosher food to be purchased in the Acadia area?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Whatever you can find at any old grocery store in America you can find there.

Raw salmon. There also might be limited kosher products in Bangor, ME, and there is a kosher B&B.

Any input on whether Acadia is worthwhile with a 7 month old? Ie whether an infant would be too much of a burden to properly enjoy the main attractions throughout the park? This would be mid-late August, if that matters at all.

I don't think so. With a hiking backpack for kids, you can do any hike to want and the child will be secure.

Not ideal. You can drive up Cadillac mountain, go to the beach, and do walking trails but hiking would be tough.
