checked bags on connecting flights - 2 separate tickets
« on: August 08, 2019, 09:22:45 AM »
Im flying Virgin Atlantic out of NY. Im connecting to NY on Delta. Can Delta check my bags in Detroit through to final destination? How much time is needed prior to landing in NY would be needed for them to transfer bags?

No
VS and DL are not interline partners? The airport agent should be able to do it, no?

For two separate itineraries? Maybe if he merged the itineraries together...
But still he's going from domestic to international. Who knows if the terminals are capable. Is he flying a flight option that could be booked as one but was cheaper to book separate?
IDK how this works, maybe something could be done.

Delta will continue to through baggage into VS, even as a second ticket. See the exceptions section here:
