Does that make all of us mosers? Or because we're a) in a sakana and b) only reporting frei yidden and goyim who're driving on shabbos are we okay?

Or c) There was no mesirah. You didn't report any individuals to be punished, you provided footage to show genera behavior to ensure your future safety.

Reread @CountValentine statement. He never said we don't need religion. He said religion needs common sense. And with that I agree.
Glad someone is using common sense.  :)

Yes, but in theory, the license plates were visible in the video and could have been used by the police to issue warnings or tickets

How about this one. Child goes to school with bruises. Teacher/counselor asks him what happened. He says his dad hit him. Do they report it to the state authorities (police/DCFS)?

Exactly. How about using common sense? What would be the outcome of "reporting" this violator? At most a huge hassle. A conviction or fine? I highly doubt it!
You need to get out more!  :P

In most states there are mandatory reporting laws which actually require teachers to report this. So not only is it wrong not to report this to authorities, but it's illegal as well.

The reason I ask because in another group some were saying it should be kept inhouse.

I think we all know until recently people in many communities were protecting abusers... No need to delve into that here IMO...

So, anytime someone says a Rabbi has common sense, you interject, well actually this Rabbi covered for abusers...?

Why not? Expose them at every turn. Lets learn from our mistakes not repeat them.
I'm all for exposing cover ups and abusers. Just don't really see a connection to this conversation. Wouldn't want the thread to go OT.

I knew this would come back around ;)
The reason I ask because in another group some were saying it should be kept inhouse.
There was another option of taking care of it without the authorities.
Also the real question began with someone who smacked his misbehaving child, not abuse. It was one person who said that it's non of the schools business, which I think no one would agree with. The question is at what point is it something wrong, when does the school step in, and whom to speak with when such an issue comes up.
