A Simple Tzedaka Fund Idea

The Syrian Community is doing this and it’s a very simple , brilliant concept. Why can’t we do it for the broader Ashkenazic community and the more people that sign up, the less everyone has to contribute.

I was thinking that. However with Areivim you are part of the pool and receive a payout (if CV"S....). With this the people contributing are not necessarily the ones receiving the grant for the simcha.

correct and with this, I think the costs are much lower and can be spread much thinner...

Not necessarily. One might not be eligible for a payout from Areivim even if he participated for years. Many view Areivim as a way to give צדקה.

I like that their Rabbinical board and board members are prominently displaced in the home page. One thing Areivim was definitely lacking.

To me financially responsible is for a wedding to look like a Sheva brachos/vort.

Why would anyone disagree. I think it's a wonderful concept. Allows giving (and receiving) Tzedaka in a dignified yet controlled way. I think it would be great if it could be expanded to encompass all communities in true achdus, rather than each community having its own fund.

You do have to realize that giving tzedaka also entails preserving the dignity of the receiver and so while Im definitely not saying to have the fanciest shmanciest wedding, I dont believe a wedding looking like a sheva brachos preserves that dignity for most people. In other words, you can have a wedding nicer than a sheva brachos and still be considered financially responsible.
