Upgrade then downgrade?
« on: August 12, 2019, 11:35:29 AM »
Flying Delta, upgrade clears, as im getting on the plane, crew tells me that they downgraded me because “people just bought first class tickets”. Is this possible? Is this legal?

heard of another situation like this recently. it seems they can do this. they much rather sell the ticket then give away a free upgrade.

ive only been upgraded to d1 once, had to wait till 30 min before take off for it to clear.

Definitely, shouldn't offer an upgrade and then throw you on the back burner!

yea for sure ask for compensation. i would be screaming bloody murder if that happened to me.

i was just saying that i think delta gives themselves some cover when it comes to this so they can say they dont have to.

that still shouldn't stop you from asking.

What is with this sense of entitlement everyone has nowadays?
Maybe you could call them an Indian Giver, but they are providing a service to make money, and if something comes up that they retract something that you where not entitled to, but rather they did as a cost free way to build their loyalty program, and then it ends up costing them money if they'd go thru with it, LET THEM!
They are running a business not a chesed organization.
I'm not who you think I am.

depends what the terms of the loyalty program and upgrade are
if it says someone with status gets complimentary upgrades, but doesnt say they can reverse it even in their sole discretion, then technically you might have a complaint
they want the customers to abide by the rules including hidden city, mileage accrual etc... but they have a benefit and can just change it without it being part of t&c? not sure it works like that
