I'm sure if they were denied jobs because of that it would be discrimination.

I didn't even know what the obvious was before the follow up comments. Race based police brutality and over enforcement (I'm just making up this term) is very often committed by officers of the same race.

Illegal immigration particularly has extremely strong and extreme opposition within Latino communities, for a variety of reasons. Many seek jobs in border enforcement not because they are snuggling people in but because they want to stop it more than right wing white dudes.

So no, there is nothing obvious about someone with an Hispanic name being busted for this.

Putting in extra safeguards on someone purely based on ethnicity who is otherwise fully competent and credentialed with no reason for suspicion is textbook racism and souls be something that any frum Jew should be extremely wary of for obvious reasons.

Sorry for not being clear initially. I didn't mean vetting based on ethnicity. I meant not allowing a single point of failure for something so basic (and easy to avoid). That's basic security hygiene.
