Amazon Incorrectly Charged Full Price On Fire 7 Tablet Case Prime Day Deal

On Prime Day I ordered a Fire 7 tablet and case for $0.00 (Thank you Dan). It was out of stock and I was going to get it when it came back into stock. Today it arrived.

I look at the order summary and they changed it. They charged me $28.70!!!

I still have the email to prove that it used to say $0.00.

I will fight it but be warned

I have several hundred orders and did notice in the reports that some amounts were off, but the amounts charged were correct.

i had very similar experience with an order of method cleaning wipes my order came out to around $8 thanks @Dan  but when order actually shipped they charged full around $17 and when i went back to check order they cancelled my original order and made a new one for the more expensive price

Im seeing multiple reports of issues for this specific item. I am waiting till they all finish shipping before attempting to reconcile mine.

I chatted them and they refunded the money. That's bad practice. It's fairer just to cancel the order. I only caught it because they charged a credit card I rarely use do I looked into the charge.

At least I wouldnt be stuck paying for something I never would have ordered if it cost that much. I don't really need the tablet just bought it because it was free

The Items report shows it depending on whether it was a price mistake or not. The Shipments report is more accurate under Total Charged but not all bundles are divided equally.

You have no idea, Amazon has great shipping speeds but so much waste, I can't imagine that they really have to ship a few from different centers. Many boxes have very close tracking numbers for the same items and still shipped separately! All in the warehouse, many still coming in.

nope returned item cause they wouldnt refund difference called 4 times wasnt worth he headache any more

It might not be a scam, or a bait and switch.............it might actually be a mistake or error.  I would think that is more likely.   Those can usually be reconciled somehow.

In a scam, or bait and switch they will fight you to keep the money.

UPDATE:
Although I was skeptical at first, I got screenshots of every order details from "My Account" and found a dozen orders placed on various accounts that were changed each from $84 to $191.96. Thankfully I had the order confirmation emails as proof. Amazon can see them as well but some agents first lied about the amount there until I sent screenshots, others admitted to it being a mistake right after looking up the emails. I think that it's crazy that they can get away with charging a higher amount than authorized, but I would never fight an Amazon charge unless you want your account closed.

Had the same on all of them had to argue with Rep. he insisted that it’s Authorizations only, Asked for supervisor and he admitted and refunded.
Interesting that on order total it still showed as $21 but at the breakdown it said $9.81 and $38.18.
