You nailed it!! I don’t understand how people are so negative and so kvetchy when there’s so much good... this was the by far the most inspiring and heartwarming Place/event I’ve ever been to!!!
I think a lot has to do with looking up the energy from the atmosphere vs viewing from a distance.

Regarding the weather I’m obviously not blaming the organizers to be manipulating the weather Putin style but I don’t get why they would make an outdoor even in NJ on January 1... and I think that is the primary reason why so many seats were empty.

Regarding the speeches granted some were very nice (R’ Schiff for example) but overal it is a super long event with many long speeches which don’t fit such a grand scale event. There are many good speakers that can get a crowd excited and inspired

Also I’m not sure how it was at the stadium but on the broadcast the music presentation was really not amazing to say the least. Looked like they asked them to sing 5 minutes before with no prep

I would say that it would’ve been a great event if it would’ve been a 150 people Siyum in Lakewood but when you want to make an event for 10’s of thousands of people you got to come from a different angle.

It’s amazing to see so many Yidden coming together but the energy could’ve been taken to another level
when your there youll have a way different opinion

Nothing to do with "else" agenda, just didn't really seem necessary to bring that kind of politics to a siyum, especially since there were  thousands of modern orthodox/zionist people in attendance.
not against zionism   it was for lieberman etc

I heard that it was unclear until the end how much music they would be able to include due to the cold. Not easy to play with cold fingers.
Way too many chefs in that mix. 4 star singers, adult choir, kids choir and humongous orchestra. Very hard to get that coordinated perfectly, especially if they're volunteering.

+1 He was stressing that Toirah is the eternal neshama of Klal Yisroel. Entire event was a celebration of that point and a testament to it's eternal truth. Noone in the arena should have any problem with that.

And S Daskal got everyone very irritated with his shouts..

Have some thoughts about the siyum with a few critiques.

First of all, the actual siyum (by an audibly emotional R' Shmuel) followed by the singing and dancing of almost 100 THOUSAND (!) Yidden celebrating torah and the kiyum of klal yisroel, was one of the most inspiring and emotionally thrilling events I have ever partaken in . Additionaly, it was a rare moment of tremendous achdus, with everyone dancing in unison, regardless of their background.

It was so moving in fact, that i was left wondering why this element, the achdus that was on display, wasn't highlighted more by the speakers as a theme of the siyum to try to take with us.

Overall i thought Agudah could have done a much better job getting speakers that were more entertaining, especially considering that A. the event was very dragged out (they wanted to make sure it was full for the siyum) and B. The Weather. For example, why not have Rabbi Yoel Gold speak for 20 minutes instead of another monotonous speech by a Rosh Yeshiva (not any disrespect intended) ?
Yoel gold should speak for 20 min ? Your out of your mind. He clearly makes up story after story.

Haha agreed. He looked very cold keeping his hands in his pockets so he prob just tried to break the cold by screaming leibidik :)
Did he say a shmeichel instead of ashreichem ?

I thihk the siyum and dancing were amazing and really beautiful. For those who have been following my posts here, you'll know that I'm modern Orthodox. While I would have preferred certain things be more diverse (such as Rav Hershel Schechter speaking in person rather than only on a video clip), an acknowledgment of women beyond in relation to their husband's, etc, I thihk this siyum was far better executed than the one 7. 5 years ago (I was there, on the field). The siyum had highlights that spoke to everyone, and maybe in 7.5 years, the Agudah will focus more on the highlights (unity, dancing, Simchas HaTorah) and the next one will be even better.

I'm surprised to see critiques of the  music and the crowd, because I think anyone there felt a mincha that you wouldn't beleive (silent 75% full stadium), ruach, and such Simcha.

To me this event was very disappointing to say the least. Long uninteresting speeches in freezing cold weather with no food and barely any drinks I wonder how people survived there for so long. They should get some Heimishe chevre to run the show...

i dont understand why they dont do like chabad. A guy from the largest daily shuir, from the most remote shuir, the longest running shuir etc. instead it was just to prop up the aguduh agenda and not much about the siyum at all...

They highlighted a child with cancer and a guy with ALS (I left after dancing, heard there was one more), plus the videos.

I agree though that the 3 dovrei pesicha and the 2 keynote addresses was a bit over the top. Not to mention that they probably could have streamlined the siyum mishnayos into the main siyum.

Still can't get over the fact that the אנגעפאשעטע aguda people didn't even think of looking to get a sponsor for a bottle of water and a danish in the bag with their thick magazines.

What about singing Hatikva? Women speakers?
There's what I would do vs. What it's realistic to except at a charedi event. I had no issue with no women speakers or zionism. But thdy could have just spoken to all learners regardless of gender as opposed to repeatedly singling out the wives, when many of the women there were teens/students or women who learn in their own right.

Also a Rav who happens to be the Rav of a young Israel or Rosh Yeshiva at YU certainly is on the level to speak. If Jay Schottenstein is honored to say Kaddish, surely Rav Schechter or the like should be invited to speak.
