If you dress in enough warm layers it's really not a big deal at all. Must easier to dress for an event like this in 37 degrees than 97 degrees IMHO.

It was not easy. Especially for those of us who were there early. Not moving vs exerting yourself are way different. Was dressed properly in layers and the cold just got to me at one point that I couldnt stay.

But now that you ask, as per Wikipedia, The novel idea of Jews in all parts of the world studying the same daf each day, with the goal of completing the entire Talmud, was first proposed in a World Agudath Israel publication in December 1920 (Kislev 5681) Digleinu, the voice of Zeirei Agudath Israel,[7] by Rabbi Moshe Menachem Mendel Spivak[8][9], and was put forth at the First World Congress of Agudath Israel which took place in Vienna starting from Elul 3, 5683 / August 15, 1923 and which lasted for ten days.[10] The proposal for the study of Daf Hayomi was made on Elul 7 or 9, 5683 (August 19 or 21, 1923)[11] by Rabbi Meir Shapiro, then Rav of Sanok, Poland, and future rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin and the resolution was adopted on Elul 10, 5683.

So, while nobody has any rights to Limud Hatorah, it does make sense that they would spearhead it.

The Daf is a Klal thing that was proposed by Rav Meir Shapiro who was an Agudist. So it became Agudah's.

Then you didn't have enough or the proper layers on IMHO.
It was 37, not -7. Even if you're sitting still, you can tolerate that just fine with enough and the proper layering.

Same! Once the chill came in the bones, there was nothing to do. Like I said a bit up thread if only there was a place to warm up.

My son tried to warm up at the one at 315 and he just couldnt. We had to leave before the actual siyum while Rav Schiff was speaking. Watched it on the livestream (Thanks @Dan for the link) in the car. I'm still cold.

13 hours on a snowmobile in a day definitely takes a physical toll. But with good warm layering you can be just fine with the temperature and wind. You can't just go out in the cold for extended periods of time and expect to tolerate it without the right gear.

It was 37 at 1pm, maybe, and there was wind. Plenty of proper layers. Staff with experience said it was cold.
