Radiation on flights
« on: August 19, 2019, 11:37:31 PM »
Saw this snippet in a periodical I subscribe to where it quotes some studies/talks that flights have the same level of exposure to radiation as a number of x-rays, while not dangerous as a one off, I am curious if people have heard of this or factor this in to frequent flying. Here is a pic with refrences:

It's of no consequence. A flight from NY to LA is the same radiation as eating 400 bananas.

That does not seem to be what this paper says:

Who says that the amount of radiation in 400 bananas is safe on a frequent basis?

I actually tell hesitant patients that dental x-rays have less radiation than a flight nyc-ord and it calms them down

Yup. Heard a similar quote from a Dr. years ago.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
