I was just wondering...
I was about to sign up me and my wife for a verizon family plan. Is there any reason that I shouldn't just get as many lines as I can to get the free phones and then sell them on Ebay?
The phone would cost $240 after two years of $10 a month, and they're selling right now on Ebay for $350.
Any thought?

After tax it will cost you more then 15 dollars a month per line so i don't think its worth it

Certain phones you can get more even... plus then you could rent out the lines if you wanted.

The taxes go based on the area code of the number? Can I get different numbers with different area codes with different taxes per phone?

I can't really rent out the phone because then we'd be sharing minutes. Have you done this? if so, how did it work?

So it seems this is a good idea? Is that a go ahead?

I should add, that if you don't sell it, you have 14 days to return and cancel it.

Anyone else going for this?

Sure. you can port an existing number than say you moved. and than go paperless...

How much do they charge to Cancel a contract these days? $200? (wishful thinking)

Right, I just noticed, that you need a $30 data plan for every phone. You can't use one for each. That makes it not worth it

Can't you get a smartphone, signup for a $30 plan, and then right after getting the smartphone put on any old worthless VZW phone on the line and delete the data plan?

Also you can always get any area code you want. No address is needed.

its a 24 months data plan contract. But phones like the lg octane etc dont need!

I don't think the data plans carry contracts.

Nope the data plan is just an addon so you can downgrade to a feature phone that dosen't need data, but I think most vzw phones do these days no?

Sure, but you can just get a MDB, flip it for a ~$400 profit, and then switch to any 10 year old VZW phone and knock off the data plan 2 days later.
Even more profitable if you rent out the phone line...not that difficult to do IME.

Yup, should work... Just have to keep the line open for at least 181 days.
