Flying to Israel via Norwegian / EasyJet
« on: August 28, 2019, 12:29:23 PM »
I'm looking for tix to Israel, and found that I can get to Israel by flying Norwegian to London and then Easy Jet to Tel-Aviv. I think the overall price was like $150 per leg.

Having never flown with either before, I imagine that this is kind of like flying spirit - i.e. $150 to get on the plane, but closer to $500 when you are all said and done - I am also flying with my family - not a solo backpacker here.

Re Norwegian: You can usually book the higher fare for about $80-120 more and get a suitcase, seating and even a KSML.
If you book through a travel agent, the extras will be included automatically though the fare will be higher then that of just a seat.

Easyjet is it's own game. A standard suitcase from London to Tel-aviv will run $50-80.

$150? U have a link? I have flown on Norwegian EWR>TLV with a stopover in Rome on a 787 over all very impressed.

It's $272 JFK-LGW-TLV during Yeshiva Week

JFK->LGW on Norwegian - Depart JFK @ 7:40pm Wed 1/15/20 -> LGW 7:10AM Thursday morning - https://www.google.com/flights#flt=/m/02_286./m/04jpl.2020-01-15.JFKLGW0DI7018;c:USD;e:1;sd:1;t:b;tt:m;sp:2.USD.13990

LGW->TLV  on EasyJet - Depart LGW 10:10am -> TLV 5:15pm Thursday night - https://www.google.com/flights#flt=LGW.TLV.2020-01-16.LGWTLV0U28817;c:USD;e:1;sd:1;t:b;tt:o;sp:2.USD.13184

So it's 272 base fare down there.

I haven't gone through checkout, and my guess is that this is exclusive of fees and baggage. So $272 can quickly become $450 for one way only. At $900, I can keep looking for a non-stop or 1-stop non bargain airline ticket.

Why don't you go for the 229 lowfare plus option, it comes with 50lb bag, kosher meals, etc. also if you pay in NOK it comes out cheaper. I flew with family, my mother got the lowfare plus, everyone else got lowfare, so she brought 1 50lb bag everyone else brought carry ons. From my experience they are extremely nice I went with a bunch of cousins they all had their carry-ons 7lb over the limit and they were let right through. Also if you are flying with baby they are extremely lenient when it comes to the baby bag meaning you can pack whatever you want in there and it can weigh whatever and they will let it right through again from my experience.
