They don't come unlocked but Sprint will unlock it for you.

It isn't like the bold (or like my trust Sprint Photon). You need to have the sim for Sprint in there in order for the iphone 5 to work on Sprint. CMIIW about this.
Pretty sure that's how it works.

It's the only negative I can think of.

I wish they would release more sprint phones with CDMA/GSM.

I don't believe it is a CDMA and GSM phone then . CDMA has no SIM card  CMIIAW

Consider yourself corrected :)
LTE phones have sim cards.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have no clue what a LTE phone is ?   What CDMA phone for Sprint,  has a 4 band  GSM component unlocked to be used in Europe  ?
To put it more simply , what phone can I use on the sprint network that I can use with a European Sim card

Just hung up on my  friend @Sprint  who is a manager.
LTE is a faster data transmisssion, and the Iphone 5 sold by Sprint can not be unlocked.

I would have to purchase the Iphone 5 from Apple directly for it to be unlocked.
Not going to happen

Incorrect. Sorry to tell you but you were given the wrong info.
Sprint unlocked my phone and many others on this forum.

My mother just used it in Israel yesterday. Again, as do many others on this forum.

If I get the new ipad5 cause my 2 year contract is up , will Sprint unlock it just by asking ? or do I have to scam them ?

I remember when I was a Verizon customer they would not unlock my phone till after one year of new contract was up, thus the move to Sprint

Also is it easy to change the SIM card for a European Vodaphone SIM card

Thanks

You mean iPhone 5?

Sim changes very easy, pop out and pop in the other one.

VZW unlocks a phone if; 1) acct more then 90 days, 2) acct in good standing, 3) 1 unlock code every 10 months

I need to do it to a sprint branded  IPhone5. That's a CDMA based + GSM  I phone or straight GSM ?

I have been out of the loop for a while.

Thanks

Both are both, but they are officially locked out of the US GSM networks (AT&T & T-Mobile) but worldwide they are good.

Great. I will only be using in Europe.

Hope Sprint will unlock mine in less than the 90 days into the new contract that I will be signing to get the iphone5 subsidized by Sprint for $ 199

Leaving for Europe in 6 weeks and didn't even order the new phone yet

G'luck. It might take some persistence. Otherwise perhaps a fellow DDFer can unlock it for you.
