You bring up a good point. But if it's true that it has nothing to do with kavanah, then why does the Mechaber say that if he can be mechaven he can't eat? All this doubt caused me not to have the guts to actually eat.

Even though if I would have the playtzus of a Rav, I probably would eat.

I wouldn't be able to be mechaven at home either. That's the make or break factor IMHO.

Getting OT here but the point of 10am shacharis (having said sh'ma already during brochos/korbonos upon waking) on shabbos is to get up early and learn chassidus or say the entire tehilim before davening so that you are in the proper frame of mind to daven in an inspired fashion.
Chabad yeshivos start the day with 90 minutes of chassidus before davening every day and 2 hours on shabbos.

Which is very commendable if people show up. However, I have been to places where tehillim/chasidus is called for 8 and no one shows up till 10.

The תלוי בהרגש was exclusively with regards to Gimmel Tammuz.
The "dilemma" was that on the one hand it was the beginning of the F.R.'s Geulah, on the other hand he was exiled to Kostroma.
The exact answer was: "הדבר תלוי בהרגש, ומזה גופא ששואל, סימן שאין לו הרגש".

Reb Mendel Futerfas would famously declare, "How can one say Tachanun on such a day".

Birthdays, Yimei hilula, 5 Teves -  it is pretty clear that we say תחנון on all of these days .... besides the Rebbe's birthday of course

And that same line is repeated by mashpiim regarding 5 teves, bdays, etc.

From my yeshiva days I don't recall saying Tahanun on 5 teves while 18 Elul was more of a tossup.
