Chabad Minhagim: Pros & Cons

Take a survey of people from Lakewood, Williamsburg, Monsey, KJ, JLM, RBS, BB, etc. Is singing (any line out of אבינו מלכנו) a common practice?

I don't know how to. And I don't see any need.

While I live in a bubble, and have probably been to less shuls than you have been to, I am a real first generation צוגעקומענער, so I have some knowledge of what goes on outside my bubble. I didn't find out in recent years on DDF that in many places (Yeshivish?) they make kiddush before תקיעות.

I am sure @Something Fishy has been to more shuls than I have, and he says he never heard of singing any part of אבינו מלכנו.

Making kiddush before the תקיעות is considered a בדיעבד all over AFAIK, but when you finish davening at 4:30+ as oppose to 1:30, naturally you'll have lots and lots of people making kiddush. There are numerous accounts of many Rebbes going back centuries how they forced this big chossid and that big chossid whom they considered to be a חלוש to make kiddush by the break.

JJ and I both heard it at HAC, though the school has moved to the right since then so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sing it anymore.

In CLE Chabad both the first and last line are sung, though the last line is 50/50 depending on chazan.
In YOEC in LA we didn't sing it as the composer was unknown, though now I wonder what we sang for Hayom Haras Olam

Drinking a coffee wouldn't suffice for that? If drinking just a coffee require kiddush is a whole other shailah. All of this is discussed in the poskim at length.

Also, I doubt other shuls take as long as 770 for the sifrei Torah to reach the bimah and then back - though this year was relatively and surprisingly fast (in 770 terms).

Also of note, first day there was a bris in 770 this year (people were asking how they got the baby in, but I really don't get the question, much heavier people get passed over people's heads in 770).

Totally dependent on who the chazan is, no? Aside from the niggunim like AM, or classics like Yaaleh, there are no rules for what gets sung and what tunes are used.
