So now you want this to branch off into corporate Lubavitch, mushrooms, etc etc
Not at all what I had in mind.

Back to the main topic of this thread ומעניינא דיומא:

Shabbos Mevorchim 8:30am is a shocker for many considering or newly converted.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

8:30 and not earlier or 8:30 and not later?

8:30am is הייליג, but obviously if you missed that you still need to finish Tehillim before starting to daven.

It's like the people come into 770 asking what time Shachris is on Shabbos.
And I'm like, helloooo, it hasn't changed in over 70 years!!

What were the circumstances? IIRC Sassonkin was quite a while after not doing it, as a special exception due to something that I cannot recall now.
AFAIK (and I should know) the Rebbe is the only one who knows why he made an exception for Sasonkin...

And that includes the chosson, kallah and their parents.

While that is 100% true about anything the Rebbe does, people might know some background events, discussions, etc.

And I'm telling you there are only rumors and theories. Even the chosson and kallah don't know why the Rebbe made an exception for them. This after many conversations with both.

IINM mistaken that was only before the Nesius.

It might have continued a bit after (have to look up Mekadesh Yisrael), but I'm pretty sure it was the Rebbe who insisted at one point that he'll only be Mesader Kiddushin in 770 because of the waste of time involved.
As I heard the story, initially the rebbe would go to the hall (gold manor or wherever) then was going to stop due to time involved. One chosson decided to make his chuppa at 770 and bus everyone to the hall. at that point the '770-steps-chuppa' was born, and the Rebbe's siddur kidushin continued a little while longer

Interesting/Unique/Different Sukkahs
« Reply #649 on: October 19, 2016, 11:21:52 AM »
I am starting this thread to have people post photos of any sukkah that has been observed which is truly unique.

I am starting this thread with a picture and a challenge. The following sukkah was observed on the deck of a one family house in Crown Heights. I challenge anyone to try and figure out what the purpose of the small sukkah is (hint: only a Lubavitcher could think of such an idea).

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Well if you took his hint, it certainly wouldn't be that as Lubavitchers don't sleep / nap in the Sukkah.

No arrogance meant here, but if you don't have Lubavitch background, don't even attempt at figuring this one out, even true Lubavitchers have a real hard time figuring this one out. But in the meantime, please do post other interesting and unique sukkahs.

Only problem is they are both stationary, and the pickup truck can't make it up to the deck.

Does it have anything to do with food?
