Does anybody know the pinouts for the shabbos keeper.  It appears to be an RJ-45 jack.  Are there two pins which act as a switch to turn on Shabbos mode - and if so, which ones?
It's been two years since I plugged mine in, but I believe it's a regular Ethernet cable. The shabbos keeper box has all the zmanim programmed in, which transmits the data to the fridge, which then makes the necessary adjustments (activate 90 minutes before shkia, turn on lights inside fridge at 30% brightness, etc). At least that's how I think it works.

Yes - it looks like an ethernet cable (and I appreciate the response).  I have a shabbos clock system (based on X10) that is very advanced.  If I can initiate shabbos mode on the appliance by completing a circuit, I would love to be able to do so.  That is why I am looking for the pinout or specifications for the interface.  I would guess that it is supplying power, and there is probably a circuit closure that is creating the Shabbos mode, but that is pure conjecture.  I am looking for some source of technical information regarding the interface.

Thank you very much.

Why not contact zman technologies?
It's possible they are using data and not just a closed circuit although I wouldn't assume so.

My purpose is to use another method - and not to use the technology provided by Zman technologies so I feel a bit uneasy asking them.

What's the new alert about the non certified shabbos mode appliances?

Am I ok with my Frigidaire refrigerator shabbos mode ?

I remember being told that it is programmed for 30 years worth of dates. So I'm guessing there's just software in there, and the ethernet cable transmits that data to activate Shabbos mode. But that's pure conjecture.

I am highly doubtful that it's a simple circuit closure. It is rather a port to communicate with the appliance control board.

See https://github.com/puddly/casserole

There's also something on reddit with someone trying to reverse engineer it.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Found it!

For anyone in the future who Googles fridgedaire shabbos fridge shabbat FRSS2623 FRSS2623AS magnet placement for shabbos shabbat. It goes next to the air filter indicator lights

Had this taped in place for months, but then needed to remove the magnet to use for something, and now the other door pulls the magnet off after a few hours no matter how well taped down it is. Any ideas how to block the other door from pulling it off?

Did the magnet get flipped?

Possibly, but both sides get pulled

not sure, but physical objects tend to weaken the magnetic force. Maybe try putting a small piece of wood.

Time to switch to melacha plug?

If this is the plug you discuss in the other thread, I don't think I'd be able to set it up, plus I I'm not sure it would work on this fridge

While it is a pretty diy project, IINM it will work with any electric magnet enabled fridge. Essentially when you put a magnet it's closing a circuit, so you just got to jump the circuit with a smart shabbos aware relay :)

Is this doable for someone with no background knowledge of the tech at all? Is there a step by step guide anywhere?
