I saw it now - interesting https://www.instagram.com/tv/B4X1ojshZmm/

But this guy seemed to have access during landing which I would assume was a special privilege for him

Yes big PR guy for airlines, ELAL loved Sam Chui

Interestingly, the picture onboard wasn't nearly as neat. Did flightradar24 polish it up or show the "projected route" rather than the actual path? Or maybe the old 747 computers were not so accurate....

I trust flightradar more than an old 747 screen  :)
How was the flight?

Flight attendants dressed in retro uniform.
Served free cocktails for all passenger. Hilarious captain/flight attendant description of the safety instructions and most other announcements. Overall very jolly atmosphere from most passengers.
Captain today was "not up to" having passengers enter the cockpit.
Gave out a few souvenirs toward the end of the flight and as they deplaned.

That's Sam at the bottom of the steps. I'm sure he'll have a detailed video of the trip shortly.

Poor passengers having to travel that extra don't know how long it took, just because ELAL decided to make some news headlines!

Looks like the pattern took just under two hours.

MUST BASH ELAL

In reality this was known a week before, and everyone on this flight chose to be on the special flight, and no one traveled extra (actually everyone traveled extra, because people flew only for the reason to be on the last 747)

They advertised that they would make this pattern in advance?

Even if not but if it's as @chff says then I guess they didn't mind the extra 2 hours

They added extra time to the flight plan when they made the flight back when.

Would even assume LY paid him to fly

Most likely - but at the same time I don't even think they have proper PR team etc in Israel

"This morning I was given special access to see her before tomorrow’s special farewell flight to Rome."

Read his blogpost https://samchui.com/2019/11/04/el-al-farewell-b747-by-drawing-special-747-plane-in-the-sky/#.XcAwRZpKiUk

Quote
The seats were sold out within days. I was invited on-board these special flights as media. In fact, I think I was the only non Jewish or non Israeli passenger!
