I had holocaust studies in 7th grade iirc.
Will you have your kids visit Auschwitz? If so what age should they at least be? @jj1000

I did march of the living when I was 21, was extremely powerful and easily one of the most moving experiences of my life. But I don't think I would have appreciated it as much if I was younger. Would likely appreciate it even more today as a parent.

Because of my uncle, I think we talked with the kids briefly about it when they were younger, maybe 3rd or 4th grade. But in simplistic terms - there were really bad people who wanted to hurt america and americans, and they hurt and killed a lot of people.

I had my uncle come speak to their middle school (6-8th grades) 4 years ago and even then he didn't go into to much detail. Now that my older two boys are in HS, I fill them in with more details.

I never thought about that. My oldest kids were in elementary school and my youngest kid was born after.  But it's something that's always been known about/talked about in my house.  In an age-appropriate amount.  Like the Holocaust.  Or the Inquisition. etc.  But this one we have personal memories of.  And know some actual people involved.

Isn't it odd that this is Goggle's image for 9/11? Like no towers etc.

IF and when they ask.

Whenever they learn about it in school

Are you saying never? I honestly don't think any of my kids schools would teach anything about it, nor do I see a need for any Jewish school or Yeshiva to specifically teach anything about it.

BTW, how many people 'round here know it also as כג אלול without looking it up?

They don't have the equivalent of a history class?

Jewish history, at certain ages. I doubt they get to cover even 20th century, let alone 21st.
