Selling GC To Other Members

Who goes first? Seller or buyer? Obviously this can vary from case to case. I am curious to hear people’s perspectives on this. What is the accepted standard?

Send first, pay later if (i) both buyer and seller are known or (ii) buyer known, but seller is not.

Pay first, send later if seller known, but buyer is not.

Interesting, I always got paid first with both known and unknown members. Was looking to do a deal this morning, with a long-standing member. They insisted on me sending first. I said I always did it the other way with thousands of dollars in transactions on this forum, and offered references. He still insisted, that I send first.

Really? Everyone always paid you first? Money there's no way to backtrack or do anything if someone would run away. Gift cards at least there's some things you can do to try to recover funds.

+1 it makes no sense for a longstanding member to send money first

What about Amazon? AFAIK, same as sending money no recovery options.

I've done a few transactions and always got paid first... If you're dealing with somebody on a trust basis, pretty much required for being willing to buy / sell here, it shouldn't be that big of a deal either way.

Right, exactly my point. Which is why when someone insists on something, it raises red flags.
