Flying into TLV on Friday Afternoon

Is it crazy to fly into TLV at 2:30 when shkiya is 5:08?

Um yea. It usually takes an hour just to get out of the airport. Throw in a little delay and you will be lucky to even get to kfar chabad before shabbos.

i have a policy - unless there is NO OTHER WAY to fly before friday and i cant go MS then ill fly on friday. even domestically - too many times i came too close and weather u never know - all sorts of things....

+1 even landing in Israel at 11am is pushing it (with your destination and shkiya time) IMHO.

I wouldn't do it. My grandfather has been telling us ever since I can remember never to travel on Friday no matter what.
And a few years back having to take a cab from the train station to the house I was heading towards ON shabbos left me with the worst feeling ever- so no more traveling on Friday for me.

I've landed two hours b4 a couple times without a prob. Had taxi waiting for me. Bags came within 5 min. (told myself I wouldn't wait more than 10 min. I would go back sat night)
And I was going to Jerusalem and made with without a prob.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm going to leave on a different night. It looks like next year is great for working people. Most yomim tovim fall out on a shabbos or sunday and a few fall out on legal holidays- this means more vacation available. I'm going to leave a few days earlier to TLV and enjoy.

no issue i did it last time and i went to tzfas!!!
the suitcases usually come fast then have someone that wait for you there
beit shemesh is not so fare!! about 40 minutes
