Child seat to extra seat on American
« on: October 27, 2022, 06:57:43 AM »
Flying from jfk to tlv next week with my $400 round trip flights. I booked 3 seats me my wife and my 1 year old I booked a seat as well for. Now I plan on leaving the 1 year old and flying with only my wife. Am I going to have the third seat as an extra seat or is American going to give it away? Or should I cancel his ticket and get a flight credit and forsure not have an extra seat

a) i don't understand why they would give it away if you paid for it? is that a normal thing for them to do when passengers don't show up?
b) why do you assume that you will definitely not have the extra seat if you cancel? now is a slow time so there's a good possibility that the seat will be empty...

extremely common practice to give away "no show" seats. They even announce it

All the time, They'll give the seat to standby passengers.
