Chase Checking + Ink Bold = 20% more points?
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:04:54 PM »
Just got this letter from Chase today:

"Since you have a Chase Checking account and Ink Bold business charge card, you now earn 20% more points on everything."

Anyone else gotten this in the mail?

I believe AsherO mentioned that he's getting that bonus too.

Next order of business is to confirm that it works with the Ink Classic card: www.dansdeals.com/go/inkclassic/

Awesome how long have you had the card? I just got it any idea if I'm going to start getting the 20% right away?

Also, I'm guessing zero chance this is going to be like the 7% on the sapphire preferred and apply even on the signup bonus although that would be pretty cool.

I went into a Chase branch last week and the Business Relationship Manager (or whatever her title was) confirmed that it'd be on my Ink Classic account in two days, but when I called today and asked if it was there, they couldn't confirm nada. I'm going to stop by one of these days and ask her to clarify.

I got my card in the beginning of September.
Ink Bold is 20% monthly bonus on purchases, similar to the Freedom card's 10% monthly bonus on purchases+10 points/transaction.
Sapphire Preferred is 7% annually in Jan/Feb on all points earned.

Bubbles I got my card in August.

Dan in your opinion, what's the better card to use right now, Sapphire Preferred or Ink Bold with 20% bonus? I have both cards atm.

Strictly from a points perspecive, IB earns more than SP in all categories besides dining and travel.

BTW (slightly OT), does the Ink Bold have the same protections (warranty/return/purchase etc.) as the SP?

You mean 1.07 vs. 1.20?

Perhaps this has already been noted, but - if I did the math correctly - the Freedom + 10pts + 10% will get you a better deal than IB +20% on any purchase under $100. $100 is where it's an even 120 points on both cards.

There's an extensive discussion about that here. Please, let's try to stay on topic and discuss the 20% Ink bonus in this thread.

Funny. Considering that we are discussing the 20% Ink bonus, the discussion belongs here rather than in "Chase Sapphire Preferred vs Amex SPG - Which Card Do You Reach For First?". Our topic has neither to do with the SP nor AMEX SPG.

Other than that, I agree with you.

EDIT: I looked over at the other thread and anyway found no comparison of the 20% to the 10+10%, at least not by punching in the word FREEDOM, so I believe that this is new information.

If you've looked over the thread and searched, then something is very wrong because there's a clear discussion (not necessarily on the first page of the thread) regarding which card to use for what amounts in which categories etc. The word Freedom is mentioned multiple times as well).
