not everyone can get approved for 15k with Chase these days.

So true. What's the best method by which to get your CL increased? Anyway to do it without a hard pull?

Also a 10k line becomes an 80k line when you churn it 8 times a month!!!

I don't think churn means what you think it does.

Transfer CL from one card to another. You can even send a SM and have it done.

I am old school so maybe churn does mean something different to me.

I guess I should have been clearer. How does one increase the overall credit line, i.e. the risk exposure? Combining (as opposed to increasing) CL's doesn't have the effect sought.

I am old school so maybe churn does mean something different to me.

That word has come to have an accepted definition in the "new school" which differs greatly from how you used it.

There are quite a few that are close (depending on where/how you redeem. Sapphire Preferred 50k, Ink Bold 50k, Marriott 70k, Southwest 50k Amex 50k and others.
Re Southwest - I got that as part of a triple app in August - but no once wants to handle it. I called the fellow in Dans link on the front page says minimum of 100k. So I don't even know what to do with the points.

Idea: use the points?

That would be the obvious thing to do - I simply have no use for them, though.

My 2 cents.  If a dealer is willing to take a cc then you haven't negotiated a good enough deal.

At least make sure you're doing better than AMEX Zag as with that you can pay at least part on your AMEX.

Great way of putting it. Unfortunately, ATM it seems Chase UR is the best value for spending/earning-points.

So true. What's the best method by which to get your CL increased? Anyway to do it without a hard pull?

I don't think churn means what you think it does.

As mentioned, you can increase CL (on one card) by combining credit (from other Chase cards.

HelpMe has wrong definition for churn, and I find it hard to believe that anyone has recently managed to churn 8 Chase cards in a month (regardless of credit score and income).

I don't think there's another way that works for everyone. Before '08 some banks would raise you to a (higher) soft limit sans-pull, but I don't think any banlks have this practice.

Maybe in the process of pushing a card through recon you can convince (you know, through all the sweet talking and persistence you cant teach :P) the rep to increase one of the CLs. That way you'd avoid the pull...

It's possible, though I don't know if all the recon departments can increase CL for other cards.

Its against the CC contract for them to charge you a fee. You could deff dispute it.
not so simple- there was an anti-trust lawsuit about this and i dont know about Amex but i'm pretty sure that with Visa a merchant can now charge less for cash and more for credit.

What makes you even have that uncertainty?

A 3% fee is not more for cc, its a fee

There's no doubt that it's a good deal (the car was stolen-recovered, so the cost goes down), on amex zag the same model goes for about $7,000 more. Additionally, I don't really want to pressure him into covering the fee if that's not right, as he is a family friend. It was more a question of do I pay the fee to get the points, is it worth it?

DO you collect points do you travel / use them? If you just wanna get the points to sell the points then its deff not worth it, But as written in other topics - SPG could be worth $.50 a piece (if used correctly)

It is not the CC that you are (insert your word of preference) but the actual CL that you are (insert your word of preference) 8 times in a month.
