Just want to give a big shout out and Thank you to "chevron" for his wine talk here.
I and everyone else have been reading you and learning stuff.
Really fun.
Thanks
Thanks, actually JJ was supposed to come by for some wine tasting tonight.. I have a coravin which is boring alone but fun when visitors strike.
All you need to do is travel or watch TV or movies or read a book or simply any thing and it dawns on you that the non kosher world really is much richer with wine..
I was in LA for KFWE and my sister wanted to do Ditmas, I spied Rabbi Don Yoel Levi and really gave him a mouthful, thankfully he asked my name and knew my dad, send regards and actually I hope, took me for real...
But my issue was with, I wanted to do a wine event at Zak The Baker, after hours... the catch is, its under OK and non mevushal is as verbotten as pig.
I felt this was unfair, to wineries, to people, to the food industry.
And should Zak want to cater an event elsewhere, the OK would require a mashgiach on site, who would ban any non mevushal wines,
WHY?!?! Absolutely NO legit reason... other than that they can and you have no say..
Oh but I have a say.. I run RCC Miami.. I do between 30-45 wine events and dinners a year... restaurants are cut out, small time chefs prosper.. we have venues and hashgachot are obsolete.. CHEERS
