Quick question for anyone with experience my prg free year is up. I'm planning on cancelling do u think it is possible to upgrade it to the platinum card to get 200 in airline credit and then cancel the plat card and get the fee refunded?

I just helped someone get 50k plus the $200 for bumping up from the gold then cancelling. Prob very YMMV but definitely try.

I can't see why this wouldn't fly. I'd wait a bit after the credit posts before cancelling (and maybe putting a few other charges on the card) so it doesn't seem too obvious.

50k too? Did he get a targeted offer? Did you get an OfferID added to his account?

Wasn't targeted. And I can't take any credit, when called up to cancel she offered it. Made her repeat it a few times for confirmation but sold the credit to dan ( thnx again) couple of weeks ago and already sold the 50k and closed the account.

You think there is any chance that they would take back the credit? how could they, technically you're not doing anything wrong

There's always the chance they'll give you a runaround with the $450 annual fee refund/credit...

Heck, do it on the Gold, then on the Platinum later on

(to be fair, it takes 6-8 weeks to post, at least officially).

BTW, can I upgrade PRG to Plat if I already have an existing Plat (or two)?

Hmmm, so what happens to the annual fee? You get charged $325 when upgrading to Platinum? How much do you get back if you cancel the Platinum within 30 days of that fee?

With the PRG AF being $125 and the GCs being only $2k, unless you get other benefits out of the Platinum then it might not be worth the hassle. OTOH, if you get offered 50k MR when you call to cancel...

they have 25k and 50k offers for upgrading i think i will only do it if they offer me something to upgrade. Also u mean 200 in gc not 2k

I doubt they would offer anyone with an existing Platinum 25/50k to upgrade, anyone disagree?
