You ready to send your kids to a coed school then?
Also, separate but equal doesn't fly here. You can't set up a public school in brooklyn and make it so only the jewish kids go. The department of ed would want to know why.
I had mixed English classes until 4th grade, so no I'm not completely against the idea. I don't remember all the details of the GIB school, but it is a very Charedi community (other than the fact that many people there have "real" jobs), so I'm sure they have some sort of solution for the coed issue.
I'm not saying to open up a new school in Brooklyn - I'm not sure how it would work, but - and I know this question has been asked before - if thousands of families checked off the box for "will be coming to public school" one year, what would happen? The school system is not empty and can't just take on thousands of new kids.
I just found out from my family in NJ that $8000 of their taxes went to public school. $8000!? And then they paid $12K for their 3 year old kid to go to day care/school. That is crazy. And I want to help find a solution before I'm in the same boat.
