If you click through to the application, the rates and fees footnote says that the annual fee is $0 for the first year and then $450 afterwards.

Well there is a heavy wave of Amex account shutdowns since 4pm today as per DOC and Reddit but likely not due to this link. Use at your own risk though.

A ton of DP say shutdowns from yesterday wasn't someone who applied for the leaked aspire. But self referrals

Not talking about that. Clearly this was a backdoor link and AMEX doesn't like any games these days. The only question is where did the link come from and how was it generated.

What does Amex "not honoring" mean?
Charging the annual fee? Not getting the SUB?

just got off the phone with amex.

a rep checked and said the link indeed came from amex.

however it was a mistake on there part.

anyone who applied while the link was active will get the first year free.

Thanks for the update.
Some people also claimed they saw the offer while browsing directly on Amex website.

My app is pending (I already had 2 new amex (biz) cards within 90 days which end in 5 days) so i'm waiting for some dp to come in before calling recon

For the first year AF waived Aspire, the statement closing date has moved to Dec 6. It's now possible to triple dip the airline credit.1. Use credit in 2019
2. Use credit in 2020
3. Use credit in 2021 before you downgrade

If you're planning on cancelling then you have to do it within 30 days of AF posting (posting on 12/6/20) to get the AF refund. This means you have from 1/1/21 until 1/5/21 to use the credit. You can also change the statement closing date to something later in the month to get more time.

Seems like gift cards aren't working no more, what are other ways to use the credit?
