Why not online?

The CO promo can only be done in a branch.

I have the freedom card with a checking account and its not limited to $18 - i get about $50 a month from it. Also i never heard about the 4 month thing, but then again i do use that account.

But do note that the account might charge you fees.

In general, the variations if heard of with the freedom card are the amount of categories, the limit (i've heard of $12), and not getting the $50 bonus when you redeem $200.

Why not online?
The $12 cashback per month limit is the bonus 2% over the standard 1% on $600 purchases.  I was simply counting the 1% for the $18 calculation.

In the chase freedom application for checking account holders above the terms say that it is limited to $600 spend in the bonus categories per month.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I am back! I set up the rock bottom checking account with $100 in it. I also brought in the Continental Airline offer, which was added to the checking account. It was confirmed that I am now at 3% on my Freedom card and I got a free airline ticket out of it.

Not bad for an afternoon.
