About 19 years ago when I was 15, or maybe when I was 16 (I'm 34) I flew to NY on some thanksgiving deal to you know, just getaway.
On a sunday, I was traveling on subway, Israeli guy comes over with this whole story how his family is at hotel, he needs to trade shekels for dollars blah blah blah, says he has to go to 770 next day to make bracha (hagomel) wtv he gave me an address in israel, said he'd meet me at 770..
short story, I gave him ALL my cash, few hundred never saw him again, learned a thing or 2.
But ive had strangers help me, maybe it was 10 shekel or 5 euro.
Funny story, a VERY close friend of mine who bh built crazy successful biz in israel texts me, can I wire $250 to one of his employees, using western union.. I'm like wtf who uses WU? I'm thinking his WhatsApp was hacked, so I asked him a few questions that only he'd know, then I'm like are you sure this guy isn't scamming you?
With that said, I'm surprised no provisions exist for travelers on the go who may lose a wallet.
