https://www.twahotel.com/runway-rinkLace up and speed skate over to JFK — our frozen tarmac awaits!
Freeze all plans! The TWA Hotel will open the Runway Rink — a one-of-a-kind ice skating experience — on November 30. Visitors and guests can take a spin on the tarmac around the hotel's 1958 Lockheed Constellation Connie airplane (now a cocktail lounge) and then watch an ice skating spectacular! The custom 56-by-44-foot Runway Rink (made with good old frozen NYC tap water) will operate seven days a week through the end of February.
There’s lutz to love beyond lacing up: A snow-stopping skating show will take spectators on an Arctic expedition without leaving New York City’s tundra. The show's theme takes inspiration from our Connie’s history: after retiring from TWA, tail number N8083H spent time as an Alaskan bush plane dropping supplies in the Prudhoe Bay!
The forecast also calls for frosty beers, Sno-Caps candy and an array of other snacks and beverages. Those looking to warm up can wrap themselves in The TWA Shop's cozy new winter accessories — including knit hats and scarves — which will be sold both at the rink and online.
Admission is $15; $10 for kids under 12. Ice skates can be rented for $10 (kids under 12 rent for $8). Skating aids for children are available.
