Thank G-D, the place I daven sings a ton of Modzitz (including a lot of stuff not recorded), I find the songs much for fitting for the theme and meaning of the words (obviously depends on the Baal teffila understanding what song to use, but if you choose the right song, it is just out of this world).

I agree with the sentiment in theory except that many many many chassidish nigunim didn't start off Jewish

I once heard from a rosh yeshiva that a gadol has the power to 'kasher' a song. I don't know exactly what that means though...

I once heard from a rosh yeshiva that a gadol has the power to 'kasher' a song. I don't know exactly what that means though...
The famous one is גלות גלות ווי גרויס ביזט דו from Reb Eizikel Kaliver.

Exactly. Doubtful any contemporary song though

The difference between a chazzan and a ball tefilla plopping a random tune because the words fit the beat.
